Fool Tarot Card Meaning and Explanation

The Fool Tarot card is my all time fav card as it’s the dice in the deck and symbolises all wisdom. This card is numbered 0, it is the magical dice of the Tarot and holds all potential within it. The Fool is the card that takes us through the Tarot deck and merrily leads us through our soul’s journey. It can land anywhere and shows us the wisdom and magic of being spontaneous and trusting in our path.

It’s not that the Fool is marching recklessly into the unknown. Fool trusts what the Cosmos has in store. The Fool, even though they have no clue where they are going, but has both belief and faith. It is a pure spirit with a very open heart. It’s symbolic of our eternal soul, we have ALL knowledge within us as we have been here many times. Our innocent and pure heart is always alive, and well, OK, it might be difficult to see in some dodgy folk we encounter on our soul’s adventures, but buried within all of us is a tiny seed of the divine.

Many traditional Tarot decks including the Rider-Waite deck show the Fool card with a tiny knapsack full of all their minimal possessions. This handkerchief carry-all is no Louis Vuitton trunk! It’s symbolic of dumping the past and setting off into the unknown unencumbered. However, much like the Magician, the Fool’s bag is stuffed with all the magic they need to deal with what is coming.

The Fool Tarot Card in a Tarot Reading.

The Fool tarot card calls for a leap of faith, to try things differently and to believe in a higher purpose. When the Fool turns up in your Tarot reading an opportunity will appear to help you dive into new experiences. A shift of reality is offered, as you head into the untamed unknown.

Listen to the call of your wild spirit, embrace freedom. When we are impulsive and spontaneous, we are usually divinely protected. Kick fear out the window, go for it, try it, suck it and see!

The Fool Tarot Card Reversed

The Fool reversed urges you not to be FOOLISH! So, avoid being reckless and self-destructive. Do not climb a mountain in flip-flops, toboggan over Niagara falls dressed as a clown etc. Seriously, we all know the difference between acting in good faith and doing something that will have terrible consequences. Don’t attempt to enter into a situation that you know will be a disaster! Trust your intuition.
