Past Life Relationships

Past life relationships

Have you ever met someone and felt like you have known them for eternity? Have you ever fallen in love with someone the second you saw them and then felt powerless to leave the relationship even if it was not good for you or you were incompatible? Have you met a new friend under strange circumstances who was there just at the right time for you?

If you can relate to any of the above you have probably stumbled across someone you have known in other lifetimes. Past life relationships can be a blessing and a curse. I have probably bumped into at least 30 people I have known  from a past life, some have gone on to become good friends which feel like family. Others have been wild and tempestuous affairs with varying degrees of drama and intensity and others longer relationships.

When we meet someone and we sense who they are in every inch of our being it can be compelling stuff. We feel at home with them, even if they are badly behaved. We long for them when they  are not around us  and we, initially at least feel more energised. We sense what they are feeling and can tune into them no matter how far away they are. Compelling stuff!

Souls with whom we have these deepest connections with whom we have chosen to learn and grow with are the ones who are there to teach us the most profound lessons. And sometimes these lessons are not easy. Just because you have known one another in a past life does not mean it will all be love and happy endings in this one. Past life relationships can bring together people who would never normally have anything in common and in some cases sexuality.

Just to illustrate the extreme unlikely ways people pop up from past lives.I had a past life relationship many years ago with someone who was not only a woman who defined herself as heterosexual but was also homophobic and would say things to me like ‘God didn’t make Adam and Steve’ unless we had had that impossible past life connection we would not have stood each others company for 5 seconds never mind be lovers. Yet though that relationship was hell (no doubt for both of us!) I learned to value myself in all ways and I radically transformed my life and realised my worth.

There can be many reasons we meet people from a past life. One or both of us can fail to learn the lesson or forgive on a soul level. Until this happens we will keep coming back – like students who have to re-take an exam, until we get it ‘right’. Also, we often have themes we have chosen to work through in this life and we may have several ‘soul mates’ – and I use that term in the broadest possible sense as a ‘soul mate’ is not necessarily a romantic partner but someone with whom we have chosen to form a connection with over several lifetimes; who have chosen to appear at various times in our life in order to help us learn a particular lesson.

Past life relationships can reek havoc and turn your world upside-down but usually they come into our life to teach us how to value ourselves. If its a past-life relationship, often that relationship is extreme, you’re getting ecstasy and agony,  you’re getting powerful intensity and a psychic connection. But at the end of the day its often plagued with problems and its seems as though you’re repeating the same relationship over and over again while your weary  soul hopes it will be different. These relationships mimic addiction and not unconditional love. No matter how long you have been apart, one call and you’re hooked.

So what can you do if you find yourself caught up in the more addictive negative past life relationship? Firstly pay very close attention to how you feel. Is this relationship making you feel good or bad? If you were your talking to your own best friend would you encourage them to be in this relationship or would you advice them to run like the wind? If you really loved and valued yourself how what would you do right now to transform the relationship.

As difficult as it is when we let go of addictive past life relationships that is when we are free to see what is really going on. As long as you cling to the moments where it is ecstasy you are subjecting yourself to the soul destroying negative times. Letting go could be the lesson and bring a doorway leading to an even deeper love.

Of course some past life relationships are wonderful and we relive a sense of wonder and beauty from the past but even in these relationships our job is to grow and transform and blossom. All relationships further our soul growth but it is our responsibility to love ourselves enough to choose the right ones.
